Watch the Birdie

I was playing around with this leaf stencil this week. I sprayed it first of all with Distress Oxide Spray and then replaced the stencil and scraped through some modelling paste – I wanted to see if it would take up the green colour. It did very slightly. I added definition to the stencilling with a Distress watercolor pencil.

I’ve got my eyes on you!

 A bit of a zany project this week! I forgot I had these Katzelkraft bird stamps in my stash – they’re great, aren’t they? I’ve layered mine up onto a little ATC Chunkie. The dotty stencilling just seemed to fit in with the dotty bird and the googly eyes.

Bend and Sway

Do you ever start a project and have no idea what it’s going to be? Well that’s this one!

I wanted to use the waste from some of the MDF Inside Story kits and create a geometrical background. I chose soft colours – unusual for me. Then I outlined the shapes with a black pen. Then it was time to stamp – first a silhouetted tree and some marks, then some text in yellow to add a bit of oomph! The flowers were a last minute addition as I felt it was all too bland.

Snowdrop time…

 

I love snowdrops – Mum and I always used to go and see them at Chirk castle. So I’ve made a journal page using the snowdrop Dinky Stencil and some Texture paste. The background was already coloured with leftover paint, so it was just a case of building up the scene. Melina’s wintry tree fit right in.

Down in the depths, under the sea…

I’ve gone for a watery feel this week with this wonderful image from Kelly O’Gorman. Although it’s made up of lots of different images, I’ve coloured it as a whole so the seahorse stood out. The background was built up with different stencilled layers and stamping until I was happy.

Hobbymaker shows

 

I hope you managed to catch the shows with Sam yesterday, if not then they are on catchup and are well worth watching. I loved seeing everybody’s different ideas for the Inside Stories from That's crafty!.

I thought today I’d post detailed pics of the Orangery I made.

With this version I stencilled the outside and then painted and stamped over the top. The stamps are some of Lynnes. Then I assembled all the pieces inside before painting them. I was also a lot less gung ho and handled pieces carefully – some are delicate simply because they’re tiny. I absolutely love the little step ladder as we've got those in our garden.

I love these ice skates - used to own a pair exactly the same as a child. We used to skate on the pond and canal just outside our flat.
