Merry Christmas!

I love these ice skates - used to own a pair exactly the same as a child. We used to skate on the pond and canal just outside our flat.

Nothing says Christmas more than a Christmas tree! This was made using the waste material from the miniature MDF tree – it’s a lovely shape and size. The background was stencilled in light blue just to offset the green branches. Decorate the tree with Ice Effect paste and then raid your stash for some ornaments. You could also use the leftover ornaments from the MDF kit. Cut the tag to whatever shape you like.

In the forest...

This is a beautiful stamp from Studiolight, very fitting for this time of year. I just stamped and coloured it twice, bring the colour out to fit a large tag. Add a little sparkly stencilling and you’re done!

Through the porthole...

I’ve made a circular panel this week using the Stamperia Songs of the Ocean collection. The artwork in this collection is fantastic. I chose a background paper and added some colour to make it coordinate better – you can always add colour to your patterned paper – you don’t have to use it as is. Then I stencilled over the top with some Titanium paste. Then I took the Ephemera packs and built up a scene using the porthole as a base. I cut out the sea in the middle to raise it up a little so that the other pieces could be interwoven and layered up, creating more depth.

Blossom and Bloom...

I’m using some lovely Art by Marlene flower stamps this week for my main images and then I’ve embossed the background with a one of Melina’s masks. When you’re using a stencil to emboss, you just need to play around with different ‘sandwiches’ on your die cutting machine until you get the desired result. I’ve gone for very soft colouring with Distress Oxide inkpads. The text is from one of Lynne’s stamp sets, stamped in VersaFine Clair Twilight like the other images.

Let’s get gothic!

I’m talking about the new Gothic Arch Inside Story of course. This kit was just fabulous – I loved how Laura and Graham had designed the rafters to get that beautiful arch. I used mostly papers on the walls this time, overstencilling with the Fleur de Lys in the richly coloured Titanium Paste. For the windows I used alcohol inks on acetate and then overlaid it onto silver card.

Bright and colourful…

I’ve made a card this week using some of Art by Marlene paper cuts. I turned to the page with the house shapes and was hooked! You can use them as is, or, as I have done, you can embellish them with line work, stamping and white highlighting. The background was just made using Pixie Sparkles and a mask.
